چکیده

HRONIC MYELOGENOUS leukemia (CML) is a C clonal myeloproliferative disorder of the primitive hematopoietic stem cell.’-3 It involves the myeloid, erythroid, megakaryocytic, B-, and sometimes T-lymphoid elements, but not the marrow fibrobla~ts.~,~ CML is characterized by (1) the heterogeneity of the disease among patients, (2) a biphasic or triphasic course, and (3) the presence of a chromosomal marker, the Philadelphia chromosome (Ph), in the leukemic Proliferation is a shared feature of CML and other myeloproliferative disorders such as essential thrombocytosis, polycythemia vera, and myeloid metaplasia/myelofibrosis. Although these entities are usually distinct, overlap in presentation is occasionally observed, resulting in diagnostic confusion. Thus, it is important to confirm the diagnosis of CML by cytogenetic (Ph chromosome) or molecular studies, because the natural history and treatment of the myeloproliferative disorders are different.

Pregnancy Outcome of Two Patients with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia Treated with Imatinib

Although chronic myelogenous leukemia in pregnancy is rare, its management and treatment is more difficult and complicated.Treatment of patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia includes bone marrow transplantation, however in less than 30% of patients the donor’s organ would be accepted. To this end, cytotoxic therapy is considered as an alternative therapeutic option. This option provides sa...

Function of Neutrophils in Different Phases of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia

In chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), the mature granulocytes originate from a stem cell line harboring an abnormal chromosome, therefore it is possible that metabolic-functional abnormalities occur in the morphologically mature cells. In the present study, the phagocytic activity including intracellular killing, nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction, and phagocytosis were studied in 37 CML p...

Chronic myelogenous leukemia: update on biology and treatment.

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder that follows a characteristic clinical course in which a chronic phase of variable duration precedes an accelerated, and ultimately blastic, phase, which is generally fatal. This disorder results from a clonal expansion of transformed hematopoietic progenitor cells and includes myeloid, monocytic, erythroid, megakaryocytic, and...

MiR-570 inhibits cell proliferation and glucose metabolism by targeting IRS1 and IRS2 in human chronic myelogenous leukemia

Objective(s): Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a chronic myeloproliferative disorder characterized by the accumulation of myeloid cells with a chromosomal translocation known as the Philadelphia chromosome. In this study, we investigated the roles of miR-570 in CML development. Materials and Methods: Expression of miR-570 in CML samples and cell lines was determined by qRT-PCR. Glucose upt...
